As a self-proclaimed “artist, illustrator, and part-time Jedi,” Karen Hallion has built a successful career as a freelance artist. Karen’s forte is taking iconic images from some of our most beloved animated films, television series and books and combining them in unique ways. Within Karen’s work, you’ll often see re-imaginings and mashups of familiar worlds such as Dr. Who and Disney.
She also has a penchant for Art Nouveau styles and regularly draws inspiration from popular graphic illustrations from the late 19th Century. Dan and I ask Karen about her artistic style, its evolution and how she’s managed to build a successful freelance career.
