I can’t tell you how many websites I’ve seen for speakers, coaches, and consultants that fall into the trap of spotlighting. I’ve made this mistake myself: putting the spotlight on my expertise, what I can do for your Message, and how great I am at getting results.
The reality is it’s not about me - it’s never supposed to be about me. I’m never supposed to be in the spotlight when talking with my Market. We are not the heroes - we are the guides helping show the way for our clients to be the heroes in the story.
I see spotlighting all over websites, videos, podcast episodes, keynote speeches, everywhere. My encouragement to you today is to see how you can shine the spotlight on your audience. Focus on what they’re great at that you can help bring more of to the world around us. That’s when we can truly serve our clients when we take the spotlight off ourselves and celebrate our clients being the true heroes.
