Despite human scheming, God had in mind a plan for His Son. While some would lay the blame for Christ's death on the mob at hand and the seemingly relentless and fated chain of events, Jesus indicates that He is not the helpless victim of circumstances. He is willing to proceed to His sacrificial death outside of Jerusalem, and then as He said, "on the third day I will reach my goal." Jesus goes to His death and resurrection for our salvation, for the forgiveness of the sins of the whole world.
