I recently spent the time to figure out how to open a podcasting account and create podcasts. I wasn't entirely sure I would do a lot of podcasting, but I figured it was worth setting it up and doing some experimenting to see how it goes. I do like to tell Behind-the-Scenes stories about making my YouTube videos for Planet Doug. And perhaps doing it in a pure audio form is a faster and more efficient way to go.

I recorded this podcast mainly while walking around the streets of Muar, Malaysia, after cycling there from Melaka. I hope you enjoy it.

Description: Melaka is full of history, but one thing I kept noticing during my time here was how much of that history is simply invisible to the average visitor. You can stand in front of a fortress wall, a famous church, an old bridge or a centuries-old street and have almost no idea what you're actually looking at. So I decided to solve the problem by inventing my own tourism infrastructure: Planet Doug's invisible signs.As I walk around the UNESCO historic zone, I'm putting imaginary information signs wherever I think visitors could use a little more context. Not because there aren't signs in Melaka, but because the existing signs don't always explain the things that I found most interesting while researching the city.
