Plans for a new ambulance base in Sligo are to move to the next step.

A site has already been identified in the Maugheraboy area of the town.

It's been confirmed that a design team will be appointed early next year and they will be tasked with completing a masterplan for the proposed site to incorporate the ambulance facilities alongside other HSE facilities.

This will pave the way for a formal planning application to be submitted thereafter.
