I Can't Believe I'm Vegan

Plant-Based Eating On A Budget

Listen Later

One of the first complaints people will have when they talk to you about eating vegan is how expensive it is to eat that way. It can be if you’re using all the meat replacements in the freezer section, but it doesn’t have to be.

First big tip is to cook your own food. Try not to depend on meat replacements. You can even make some really cheap things like ramen work, if you use your own seasoning.

Try to shop only once a week and use what you have. It’ll help to prepare and plan meals ahead of time. When you do shop, stick to the outer perimeter of the store because that’s where the produce and healthier options tend to be. Staples like beans and rice are great to buy in bulk.

If you are at a fast food place, just get the salad. Before you go though, research which dressings are available that are vegan and know if you’ll have to ask for no cheese, no egg, or no meat.

It can be done as long as you’re clear on your goals and you stick to them.
