Last weekend I added some wiring to our electric panel.  Prepping and executing that scary project illuminated a few parallels to leading a team and how to upgrade a system.

Here are a few quick takeaways:

  • Take the time and go deep enough to diagnose the real weaknesses, don't just trust your gut or go for the obvious thing
  • It is possible to do more damage than good when trying to make an upgrade
  • Sometimes to make an upgrade or strengthen a weakness, you need to address the support structures of the system first
