Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced today that the federal government is banning 1,500 types of assault-style firearms, effective immediately.

“Canada has experienced mass shootings in rural and urban areas such as in Nova Scotia, city of Québec, Montréal, and Toronto. Whether at home or abroad, the deadliest mass shootings are commonly perpetrated with assault-style firearms,” the new amendment reads.
