The POCcorn podcast reviews films created, directed and/or starring People of Color. Each show uses four questions to describe our thoughts on the film, plus one POCcorn moment we simply MUST discuss in detail.
In this episode, we discuss The Orator. This film was chosen to highlight Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Filmed in Samoa, this story was rooted in Samoan culture and every day life. As viewers we glimpsed poetic traditions and respected art forms from an outsider's perspective. And though the movie was slow to reach tis climax, it still pulls you into its complexity with the respect it is due. Listen in!
