Welcome to PodGuide, a bite-sized dose of pod knowledge from me, Ginni Media’s Ginni-in-Chief. 

Today, I’m back with some table-turning pod stats: It turns out podcast listeners aren’t just avocado toast eating, oat milk latte drinking Millennials after all! 

Of course, this is something I, your podcasting guru, knew all along—but it’s always nice to see the numbers to back things up.

According to Edison Research, 51% of Americans over the age of 12 have listened to podcasts, while over 70% of Americans are familiar with podcasts in general.

Even more impressive? Over 80 million Americans are weekly podcast listeners, accounting for almost 30% of the total US population.

And that’s nothing to sneeze at, considering just 15 years ago only 22% of Americans even knew what a podcast was!

Well, well, well. Sounds like podcasting isn’t so much a trend, after all. I think it’s pretty safe to say that the medium is here to stay. 

Lucky for us, more podcasts pop up on the daily, meaning there’s truly a show out there for every age, interest, and attention span.
