Today’s Broadway Drumming 101 Podcast features Bill Lanham.
Bill has worked with Lesley Gore, Melba Moore, Deborah Gibson, Fantasia, Eartha Kitt, and Ricky Martin. He’s conducted clinics at Universities and Educational Percussion conventions and on Broadway, he has held the percussion chair at “Wonderland” and “Jekyll and Hyde” and the drum chair at “Les Miserables”, “South Pacific”, “Evita”, and “Cats”.
We discuss how he got his start playing shows, his influences, what it’s like playing the shame show fourteen years straight and I ask him what advice he would give to anyone interested in playing broadway musicals. He has so much to share so sit back, relax and take in as much of this advice as you can—there is a lot of wisdom here.
Bill is an endorser of Paiste Cymbals, Vic Firth Sticks and Mallets, and Remo Drumheads.
Clayton Craddock, the drummer of the hit broadway musical Ain't Too Proud. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Howard University's School of Business and is a 28 year veteran of the fast-paced New York City music scene.
He has played drums in several hit broadway and off-broadway musicals, including "Tick, tick…BOOM!, Altar Boyz, Memphis The Musical, and Lady Day At Emerson's Bar and Grill. Also, Clayton has worked on: Footloose, Motown, The Color Purple, Rent, Little Shop of Horrors, Spongebob Squarepants, The Musical, Evita, Cats, and Avenue Q.
