Sunday we look at a powerful living illustration of the wedding of Grace and Truth – that is Jesus! Some teachers of the law bring a woman caught in adultery before Jesus, stones in hand, ready to stone her to death, seeking Jesus approval while at the same time desiring to trap him and discredit him before the crowd gathered there.
Jesus is masterful in his words and actions. With two simple phrases, he dismantles their self-righteous and judgmental attitudes and disarms the stones from their grasp. So much to explore, questions abound, mystery of truth and grace wedded together in this story affirming Jesus as ‘the way, the truth, and the life.’ In the story Jesus essentially is saying, “I am the forgiveness of sins… and the offer of a transformed life of walking in holiness.’
