Today and next week, we are wrapping up our message series on Daniel while at the same time kicking off a new series where we will look at the apocalyptic visions of Daniel in chapters 7-12. Here’s the challenge for us this coming Sunday, read chapters 7-8 of Daniel in its entirety, as we will not be taking the time in worship service to read them. Yet, we will summarize them and begin this new message series with the overarching Biblical theme of The Kingdom of God. This will be the train engine. In the coming weeks, we will hook up more box cars to this train with Biblical themes to follow as we travel a journey of faith through the Bible such as Covenant, Gospel, Christian, Reformed, Mission, Advent, Incarnation, and Discipleship. This train is heading somewhere – the journey and the destination are good and very good.
We will wrap up the book of Daniel (chapters 9-12) on November 3rd with a focus on The Meaning of History. God has a plan for our lives and for the world, the entire cosmos – and has invited us into his unfolding plan. This is a train you want to be on, “All aboard!”
