It’s ‘the Best Christmas Pageant Ever’ Sunday with a potluck fellowship meal to follow!  A good Sunday to invite your friend or neighbor, coworker or the stranger you know.   Already anticipating and preparing for this coming Sunday, how appropriate its Advent (time of anticipation, expectant waiting, and preparing).

It’s Advent 2024 and Advent is all about anticipation, expectation, and preparing for someone important to show up – and that important someone during Advent is God.  When you think about the future, either today or the next year of 2025 unfolding, are you anticipating, expecting or even preparing for God to show up?

It’s forecast to snow tonight in Boulder, CO.  We anticipate it, expect it, and even prepare for it. And I’m sure that the snow will show!  In the same way, the advent lifestyle is all about anticipating, expecting and preparing for God to show up.  When we cultivate the advent spirit in our lives, with hearts and spirits in tune with God, we will see him show up.

The advent lifestyle is an advent-ure for sure… and advent-ageous to seeing and experiencing God showing up in our lives.  Do you anticipate God showing up in your life?  Do you wait with a longing and expectation for God to show up in your life?  Are you preparing your heart and mind for God to show up in your life?

See you Sunday.  In preparation for Sunday, be on the look out for Jesus showing up in your life today and throughout this weekend.  Look for it and make note of it.  After all, the Gospel of John spoken long ago said, “The true light that gives light to everyone has come into the world.”  God has made himself known – look for him and you will find him.

Ask, seek, knock – it will be given to you, you will find, and the door will be opened,
