2025-05-25: Pastor Mark Quist – Unity in Diversity – One Body, Many Parts

Ever heard the phrase “all for one and one for all”?  It’s a catch phrase that has various meanings for a few different situations.  I think Paul’s chapter 12 in Corinthians promotes this idea.  All God’s people are in the faith engagement with God for God and his glory and the Holy Spirit gives each of us gifts of all the others in the body of Christ.

In chapter 12, Paul likens the people of God to being parts of the same body.  Not everyone can be, nor is, the eye.  Nor is everyone the foot.  We are different and have different gifts that function differently.  Point being, we need each other to be a fully functioning body.

This flows out of all that Paul has been saying in this letter.  And perfect flow in the context of Paul’s teaching on the Lord’s supper from last week.  And then the next thing we encounter?  Chapter 13.  The most excellent way, the best and better of all gifts, LOVE.
