This morning started a bit differently for us. We sent the kids off for the day, passed on our morning eggs and coffee, and decided to have some hills for breakfast instead. Heading down to Forest Park, we found the five or six largest hills… and then ran up them.
Sounds like a really dumb way to start the day, but it turned out to be a great workout, hopefully launching us into a great weekend. Of course, weekends in late summer typically mean marathon-training long runs! These are no longer the “roll-out-of-bed, throw your sneakers on and go” runs that perhaps you encountered in early weeks of training. These are multiple hours-long runs that will eat up half your day. But you need them to be ready for race day, and in order to make the most of these few opportunities, you should treat it as close to race day as possible. Just a little advice for long-winded, soapbox preaching, Coach Scott. Enjoy your weekends!
