Podcast #391 – Overcoming Needless Drama, But Still Wasting Time

Perhaps a was a little too hasty and harsh with my self-criticism on Monday. After missing my long-run on Sunday, in part due to my own selfish choices on Saturday night, I was pretty upset with myself. Was this lack of discipline the start of a downturn? It was a big workout to miss.



But I stormed back with a vengeance on Monday afternoon. First, I knocked off the ride I had been wanting to do – Stage 8 of the Tour de Zwift. As fun as these side-quests are in-game, they sometimes detract from training goals. But on Monday, I crushed the ride and felt really good about it.



Not to be content, I then hopped off the bike and got on the treadmill for a 4-mile run. A tough brick to make up for a missed 5-mile Sunday run was just what I needed to get myself back in the right mindset.



That was the beginning of what is promising to be a good week. Just gotta keep the momentum going all the way through this next weekend for my first 10-mile run in over a year.
