Wow, can you believe this is the 50th episode? It’s crazy how time flies. Today, we got together with a few of our friends and decided to celebrate what we’ve done and where we plan to go!

    • Tahoe and Mammoth still getting snow!!

      Winter Weather Advisory Issued for California | 4-8″ of Snow Forecast Above 7,000′ Tomorrow

       

    • 5 Late-Season Resorts Where You Can Still Ski in May
      • Squaw/Alpine: Both Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows will keep the lifts turning until May 30 this season, and that’s good news for fans of California. The past few winters have been tough, but El Niño did just enough this season to allow Squaw to offer the longest ski season in Tahoe. Pro tip: don’t miss the High Camp Pool & Hot Tub, a swimming pool set at 8,200 feet that’s a perfect stopover between spring turns.
      • Whistler Blackcomb: After receiving 484 inches so far this winter, Whistler is sitting on a solid 81-inch base. That makes for great spring skiing conditions. While Whistler Mountain’s last day of winter operations was April 17, Blackcomb Mountain will remain open through May 30.
      • Mammoth Mountain: We already know that Mammoth likes to throw a great party, but there’s also no better place to spring ski in California. Thanks to plentiful snowfall this winter, Mammoth is likely to stay open through at least Memorial Day and perhaps longer. In years with similar snowfall totals, Mammoth has remained open to July 4th.
      • Snowbird: With the longest season in Utah, Snowbird will remain open daily through May 8 and will reopen on weekends through Memorial Day. That means there is a whole lot of skiing left at one of the best ski areas in the state. Get out there.
      • Arapahoe Basin: Spring skiing doesn’t get any better than Arapahoe Basin. The ski area tops out at 13,050 feet, an elevation that sometimes allows the lifts to run into July. The ski area presently has June 5 pegged as a closing day this year, which sounds mighty fine to us. Insider’s tip: book a spot at the Beach, a set of prime parking spots that backs up to three lower mountain chairlifts. You can expect music, good food, and lots of beer.

      • Court Upholds Snowboarding Ban At Utah Ski Resort

        In Utah, the Alta Ski Area gets to keep its slogan “Alta is for Skiers.”

        A federal appeals court has upheld the resort’s long-standing snowboarding ban in a legal challenge brought by a group of local snowboarders.

        The case touched on a sensitive topic in the ski industry and especially in the West, where most resorts depend on leasing land from the U.S. Forest Service for their operations. Does a ski area have the right to prohibit or single out a certain type of user’s access to federal public land that’s supposed to be open to everyone?
