CW// discrimination and offensive words are used in the podcast

My name is Sam and the question of my podcast is “Can we still have black faced Pete?”

A big fest in the Netherlands is celebrated, called Sinterklaas. Black faced Pete* is a character that plays a large role in the Sinterklaas fest. This character is seen as offensive and racist. Still the majority of the Dutch people like to have and dress up like black faced Pete. With this long-lasting tradition, children also learn to be racist. I think the celebration should be modified, so that it is a nice fest for everyone.

*Black faced Pete is also known as black Pete, black face Peter and variations. In Dutch: zwarte Piet.
