Welcome back to the Webcam Startup podcast, this week hosted by Aerie_SM. We’ve got an exciting week. The movie Cam is now available on Netflix, giving the industry some great mainstream exposure. Tumblr has also been banned from the Apple App Store, Project Maenad is going to sunset in spring 2018 and much more!

Cam Horror Movie Hits Netflix – Cam, a new fictional horror film has hit Netflix. Cam follows Alice, a camgirl played by madeline Brewer, who has her identity and camming career stolen from her. Unable to verify her identity with the site she’s camming on, she fights to take it back, all while dealing with stigma, doxxing and balancing her cam life with her real life.

Tumblr Banned From Apple App Store – The Tumblr app has been banned from the Apple App Store. Underage porn being shared is the reason being given. Could this mean other apps including explicit content and user-generated content might also be banned in the near future? Will this lead to a larger crackdown on Tumblr and other social networks?

Project Maenad Shutting Down May 2019 – Project Maenad is shutting down in May 2019. The network has referenced payment processor woes as the reasons for shutting down. Project Maenad will continue to operate until May, and states that models will be paid out every penny owed to them.

LiveJasmin Adds Snapchat Alternative To Mobile App – LiveJasmin has added a story feature to their Model Center App. This new feature behaves a lot like Snapchat. Models are able to add to their stories, which will last for 24 hours. Models are able to set prices for members to subscribe to their stories and content.

Voting For The 2019 XBIZ Awards – The voting for the 2019 XBIZ Awards is officially open for both fans and industry members. The fan voting is limited to select categories, while the industry voting is open to all categories. The 2019 XBIZ Awards will take place on Jan 17th, during XBIZ LA.

SideDaddy Adds PayPal As Cashout Option – SideDaddy, a platform for clips, customs and fanclubs, has announced the addition of PayPal as a cashout option. PayPal joins ACH and check as supported payouts.

ManyVids Updated MV Crush – ManyVids has made some updates to MV Crush. MV Crush now supports automatic rebills. They’ve also standardized the crush durations to three different options and has added a feature to mass-message expired crushes.

redBUX / vrXcity Warns Of Impostor / Scam – redBUX and vrXcity put out a statement regarding an ongoing scam. A company going by United Freelancer Group alleges that they are partners in the area of investor relations for vrXcity. This is not true and the entity has no affiliation with vrXcity or redBUX.
