Hey friends, happy Sunday!
I’ve been sitting on releasing this podcast episode because I envisioned writing a personal, narrative-style opening—something about my own experience with “over-trying” to lose weight. But honestly? I’m just not feeling it today. I’ve been in a bit of a funk, with some sadness and grief coming up to be processed. And rather than forcing myself to share a personal story when it doesn’t feel right, I’m keeping it simple and introducing the topic as is. So much for my “perfect” Substack dream of beautifully crafted writing and a podcast video all in one, lol!
This episode is for those of you who feel like you’re working so hard (maybe too hard?) to lose weight but aren’t seeing the results you want. Or for those who find themselves constantly thinking about reaching their goal weight, believing life will be so much better when they get to their magic number.
In Episode 13, I explore the idea of excessive drive to lose weight—when we want weight loss too much, to the point that it actually slows down our progress. We’ll explore:
* How over-trying can lead to frustration, self-sabotage, and burnout
* Why believing “life is better there than here” can keep you from enjoying the journey and making sustainable progress
* Confidence, happiness, and emotional well-being at any weight
* How to shift from forcing weight loss to allowing it to unfold naturally as a by-product of addressing patterns of overeating and emotional eating
Can we let ourselves feel a sense of contentment now—while still pursuing a goal—instead of postponing confidence, joy, and self-acceptance for some future version of ourselves? Because weight loss isn’t just about changing habits; it’s also about how shifting how you treat yourself. 💛
