Q: Why is XXX (Blubrry, Libsyn, Spreaker) so much more expensive than Soundcloud?
A: Because, businesses that host podcasts have to buy bandwidth. Â Bandwidth costs money. Â If you charge less than it costs you and donât make a profit, the business wonât stay in business. Â This is why Free or cheap hosting will never be a long term plan. Â If a company charges enough to make themselves a profit, they will stay in business. Â Simple as that. Â Soundcloud spent more money than they took in for a long time and itâs now catching up with them. Â There have been 100âs of free or cheap hosting companies come and go over the years. Unless you enjoy changing hosts every so often, pick one that has been around for a while, not one that just started and seems too good to be true.
