It's federated ‘network intelligence’ technology has led to an uptick in intelligence-sharing between payment operators to prevent fraud. More importantly, it helps to distinguish between genuine spending behaviour and fraudulent ones. When these models are trained for a specific merchant or sector, it helps improve fraud detection accuracy by as much as 40-50%. Even the industry under the NPCI is creating a common platform for data-sharing that can be used across payments platforms to serve as a repository of all fraudsters.
