Low-stakes testing can be a great way to engage pupils, especially in English where pupils can sometimes struggle to be motivated by the texts they have to study.

But what sort of content should you include in such a test? Is it best to focus on the facts and details of the piece being studied, or the wider literary themes and concepts? And how do you use the results to inform any future teaching?
