Enterprise resource planning solutions, and their earlier incarnations, have been around for nearly half a century. In recent years, large ERP solutions have slipped to the bottom of IT management’s agenda to make way for trendier topics like digital, big data, cloud and agile.
But the business benefits of ERP, that of enablement of seamless, end-to-end integration across functions and the process standardization across geographies and business units, have not gone away and continue to make ERP a fundamental asset for enterprises. The maturing cloud infrastructure and processes, has also extended the adoption of ERP across businesses of all sizes and shapes.
Despite the maturity, there remain hurdles to the successful adoption and modernisation of ERP ideas and processes.
In this PodChats for FutureCIO, we speak to three executives from different ERP solutions providers to discover how to improve your odds in successfully deploying ERP.
Andrew Ward, SVP consulting and managed services, Asia Pacific & Japan, Infor.
Arthur Fernandez, General Manager for Asia, JCurve Solutions.
Paul Lee, the GM of Oracle NetSuite for Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Questions covered:
1. In Asia, what are the top 3 most important reasons for implementing an ERP? (top 3 goals)
2. What makes for a successful ERP implementation? Who decides it's successful?
3. Is there such a thing as a mediocre ERP implementation?
4. Can you use Agile principles in ERP implementation (this includes customizations)?
5. Are course changes (corrections in goals and implementation cycles) acceptable/standard practice in ERP implementation?
