Explore spirituality and awareness on this wisdom podcast. Discover enlightenment and mindfulness through the Bhagavad Gita with Dr. Vijay Jayadeh...
Dr. Vijay Jayadeh is a beautiful paradox — an orthodontist who spent his professional life straightening teeth while dedicating decades to straightening the path between the Bhagavad Gita's timeless wisdom and modern life's crooked challenges. Born in 1941 in Karnataka, India, he watched his father (also a dentist) study the Gita daily, planting seeds that would bloom into a radical project: reorganizing the entire scripture by topic rather than chronology, so that ordinary people struggling with anxiety, depression, and unhealthy competition could actually access its teachings.
Now in his 80s, Dr. Jayadeh has published his interpretation in Marathi and is translating it into English, determined to reach even more people lost in the labyrinth of modern life. His subtitle says it all: "As Understood by a Common Man for Other Commoners." In this conversation, he explains why the Kurukshetra battlefield is a metaphor for our daily dilemmas, how to cultivate equanimity in gain and loss, and why the Gita's essential message is this: you yourself are your best friend — or your worst enemy.
