MOE talks to singer-songwriter and facilitator Luce Barker on how song-writing can be used in coaching as a fantastic form of healing.

Luce's mission is to shed the skin of shame for survivors of sexual violence, exploring how song can inspire empathy and offer hope.

This work runs through Conversations With Myself, her debut album, now on the road to completion.

Whether she's holding a room or holding a melody, the work is the same: creating a space where something honest can surface.

This episode is cathartic, healing and inspiring for survivors and also offers insight to those wishing to develop a greater understanding of what sexual violence survivors go through.

Jem is a COSRT Registered Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist specialising in couples work - they help couples navigate the complexities of intimacy, connection, and conflict.

Jem's background in conflict mediation and behavior change, particularly with perpetrators of domestic abuse, has significantly influenced their therapeutic style, which is characterised by a blend of frankness and kindness.

When not in the therapy room, you'll likely find them producing community events with their mobile sauna, dancing, or planning their next adventure — currently involving a motorcycle and the mountains of Oaxaca.

Jem's approach to therapy is informed by their belief in the importance of addressing underlying issues that lead to conflict, rather than merely treating surface-level problems. This perspective has led them to focus exclusively on couples counseling, allowing them to draw on their full range of skills and experiences.

Jem’s philosophy for getting couples counselling is “Relationships are hard, getting some support along the way isn't a failure, it's just common sense!”
