Last night’s party
Full of laughter
Howls and merriment
Today somewhat down
As if the medicine for joy
Is sorrow all around
The shrieks gone
And only silence fills the space
Leaving an empty feeling
In my belly
Where cake and bubbly
Played last night.

Let's remember the incredible privilege of being alive at this time in history and being an American. I consider being born poor, the son of a mechanic and a housewife (who valued education and integrity), a huge advantage. I want to make a difference and make America better.
