Poetry Reading | my feeler girl

my feeler girl

a poem by Gwevera Nightingale

tears did fall, emotions squall, morning's wakings sewed the shawl

does my daughter tie her shoes? why won't someone quell our blues?
golden gardens were our morns, abusive silence proved our thorns
shrikes were women watching on — how we loved had made them wrong
jealous feelings bearing pride would have those monsters growing snide
my broken brain for doing maths; they made to ruin both our paths
daughter, angel, wicked luck has had these people throwing muck
they did not see, misunderstood, our bliss was only ever good
to miss you every breath I take — I want to die — that is my stake
my savior too, beautiful girl, my prayers are that we'll once more whirl
our times of joy will come again; adventure's sought can still begin
to play and hug, those colors too, then one day soon I'll read to you
please find freedom just for me, don't swallow up their devil's glee
sadomasochists will lose, to live for you is what I chose
someone, someday, awfully soon, will help us snuggle with our moon

tears did fall, emotions squall, morning’s wakings sewed the shall
does my daughter tie her shoes? why won’t someone quell our blues?
golden gardens were our morns, abusive silence proved our thorns
shrikes were women watching on — how we loved had made them wrong
jealous feelings bearing pride would have those monsters growing snide
my broken brain for doing maths; they made to ruin both our paths
daughter, angel, wicked luck has had these people throwing muck
they did not see, misunderstood, our bliss was only ever good
to miss you every breath I take — I want to die — that is my stake
my savior too, beautiful girl, my prayers are that we’ll once more whirl
our times of joy will come again; adventure’s sought can still begin
to play and hug, those colors too, then one day soon I’ll read to you
please find freedom, just for me, don’t swallow up their devil’s glee
sadomasochists will lose, to live for you is what I chose
someone, someday, awfully soon, will help us snuggle with our moon
