Today on the show, John Nores and I sit down and chat about the dangers of illegal marijuana grows on public lands and how they are literally destroying and poisoning entire ecosystems... Not only are they just destructive to the environment - but they are also often littered with booby traps, extremely toxic carbofuran pesticides, and guarded with armed cartel members.
This episode is also geared to raise awareness about the unique and very dangerous hazards that we could face in the field as wildland firefighters - A very real concern across remote areas of the western coastal states...
Lt. John Nores is a recently retired California game warden Lieutenant who spent 28 years combatting wildlife resource destruction on the west coast. John co-developed and led his agency’s Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) and Delta team, America’s first wilderness special operations unit and sniper element aimed at combatting the drug cartel’s destruction of our nation’s wildlife resources.
Nores has authored two books, War in the Woods and his latest, Hidden War which chronicles the MET’s first 6 years of operations and was awarded the California Governor’s Medal of Valor for life saving and leadership efforts. The MET has been featured on Fox news, NBC investigative reports, National Geographic channel’s Wild Justice TV series and the Patriot Profiles – Life of Duty documentary series.
Nores hosts Recoil TV’s Thin Green Line film series, co-hosts the Thin Green Line and Warden’s Watch podcasts and can be seen on the Joe Rogan Experience, Meateater and other conservation and patriotic podcasts.
