I had the pleasure of speaking with the amazing Anastasia Skukhtorova, pole dancer from Copenhagen! After going to school for food engineering, she realized she wanted to do something with more femininity. She started pole classes, did ballet training and circus silks, and became one of the top pole dancers in the world. She competed in the World Pole Cup, Russia Got Talent, and many other competitions where she ranked as the top performer, or one of the runner-ups. While she got lots of hate and confusion for a career that is stereotyped as “stripping,” she shows us how she dealt with comments and how it is a fulfilling, beautiful career and art form.
