New South Wales Police have launched a six-month trial of remote-controlled drones in Moree to track and apprehend offenders on the run. The drones are piloted from Polair headquarters in Bankstown, more than 600 kilometres away, providing real-time tracking information to officers on the ground. Police say the technology will only be used in active crime scenarios and not for surveillance, with the trial potentially expanding to other areas including Sydney if successful.
