One pivotal incident unfolded on October 31, 2009, when Officer Timothy Brenton of the Seattle Police Department was fatally shot in the Central District of Seattle, Washington. Seated in a parked patrol car, Officer Brenton and his partner were deliberating a traffic stop when they became targets of a gunman who unleashed violence upon them before fleeing the scene. Officer Brenton succumbed to his injuries, while his partner sustained minor wounds.
