A man was shot dead by police in Potts Point, Sydney's eastern suburbs, after allegedly attacking two women in a unit and threatening officers with a knife. Police initially deployed a taser which failed to stop the man before an officer discharged a single round. The two women were taken to hospital in stable condition, and an independent review will examine the police officers' actions.
