Political accountability in SA, what can we do as citizens?

As political parties are busy campaigning for the upcoming election and launching their manifestos, we use this opportunity this morning to talk about issues of accountability. Through their manifestos, they outline their plans and promises to citizens as what they will bring should they be voted in power. But as we all know, once in power, they simply forget. Yes, some of them may not be in the driving seat, but may end up in parliament. How then do we as voters and citizens hold them accountable for all the things they promised? Do we only focus on the party that is running the country and pardon the ones that are sitting in parliament?
