The church should hold the government and our leaders accountable when decisions or actions are contrary to the witness of scripture. Otherwise scripture loses its sacred authority. This past week, I concluded the Words of the Wesleys series with a discussion of the public nature of faith: what the Wesleys called social holiness. It's often an uncomfortable subject, especially today, but that does not minimize its importance.
