Today’s lecture focuses on the Special Administration for Scheduled and Tribal Areas. Article 244 in Part 10 of the Constitution provides a unique governance system for 'scheduled areas' and 'tribal areas'. The Fifth Schedule governs scheduled areas and tribes (excluding Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Mizoram), while the Sixth Schedule governs tribal areas in these four northeastern states.
