When I stated that Americans associate polygamy with Muslim culture, I meant that American media is very coded in associating Polygamy with majority Islamic countries and many non-Muslim Americans associate this as "repressive" and "controlling". I know that there are Muslim-Americans and I hope I didn't offend anyone with my wording.
