Mixing drinks and words
It's balmy here by the waterfalls
that tumble into a two acre pool
in the center of a resort
in Scottsdale, Arizona
here the heat seems to be pushed out
in concretic circles
away from this oasis
here toddlers wade and "Kerplunk!!"
in these aqua-chlorinated waters
under the watchful eyes of their parents
who only break their vigil
for an occassional kiss
younger romantics parade
their semantics
hand in hand into
the three story caves
made out of rocks
behind the falls
to share a drink
a "JUMBO memorita"
with a twist of time.
the sky is made of blues
that are the exact opposite
of what you might enjoy hearing sung
by musicians trained in sorrow
Bikini's lie
arranged in rows
of enticing bits of color
like sushi..pink flesh
tucked tightly into the corners
awaiting some lover's midnight feast
the roar of the falls
masks the squeals
of the children whose imaginations
entertain then as they bob, and dunk
in a vast ocean, or a lake..that's full
of dragons, sharks and octopus
I rest upon a lounge chair
in the shade
and scribble my songs
watching the tan groups
of summer life go by
copping some inspiration
disguised as just another tourist
whose greatest vice is
mixing drinks and words.....
and adding music
that is rocking or absurd
or just a calm, piano masterpiece
penned by Chris who's so Bright
bringing light and life
to my words, my poetry
my vocalizations
of the beauty of Arizona
and the waterfall that waits there
for anyone who dares
to splish and splash
and feel it's crash
upon their aching backs
from that long plane ride
to Scottsdale
come and visit some time
and enjoy it
it's so sublime.....
