UDM leader Bantu Holomisa has written to Justice and Correctional Services Minister Ronald Lamola and the National Commissioner of Correctional Services to get clarity on allegations that the department has reneged on employing over 2-thousand fully trained corrections graduates.
Holomisa says he was approached by representatives of graduates who completed the Correctional Services Learnership programme in Zonderwater in Gauteng and Kroonstad in the Free State between 2018 and 2020. They claim their learnership contracts specify that they will be absorbed into the permanent workforce, yet government has inserted a 30-day out-clause in their contracts.
