Zak led us through the final plague, the significance of Passover and the extraordinary way that the Lord set out his intentions to send Jesus even as He delivered the Israelites out of Egypt
James Mackenzie from ACF continued our Exodus series, walking through the dramatic events of the plagues and how it reveals the power of God as the Lord of Lords.
Ian continued our series in Exodus, taking us through the events after Moses has agreed to go and do what God has asked of him. We continued to reflect on the fact that God chooses broken people to be part of his Kingdom, and that none of us can discount ourselves from joining in God's invitation.
Zak continued to lead us through the encounter of the burning bush, reflecting on Moses response to the call of God.
He reminded us that while we are encouraged by the world to look in ourselves to figure out who we are, that God calls us to look at Him to discover who we are
Zak continues our series in Exodus, engaging with Exodus 3:1-12 and reflecting on the character of the God that meets with Moses in the wilderness.
Ian led us through chapter 2 of Exodus, which spans the first 80 years of Moses life, and through that we learned some of the workings of God preparing and providing for Moses so that he is ready for the call upon his life. Ian reminded us that no matter what is going on in our lives, God has a good plan for us.
Zak talked through the opening verses of Exodus chapter 1, to help us enter into the story well. We gain a deeper sense of the injustice faced by Joseph's family and the courage of two unlikely women who are faithful to God in the face of oppression
In this first Sunday in the series Zak took some extended time to help us engage well with the story of Exodus, exploring some of the foundational question around how we read the Old Testament and how we can trust this ancient story and allow it to speak to us.
At our Ascend evening service on Sunday our Treasurer David Maclure shared with us how giving is a key part of our worship and pursuit of Jesus. We thought it was worthwhile sharing it for those who weren't able to attend!
Ian rounded up our summer sermon series on Sunday, reflecting on the psalm of praise found in Psalm 145. He helped us reflect deeply on choosing to praise God in all circumstances, and reminded us of the many ways we can express our praise in worship.
