Join Wayne Giles as he reads and expands on the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, offering deeper understanding and practical advice for those on their recovery journey. In this Step 2 AA session, Wayne explores the idea that, without realizing it, we’ve been guided by a certain kind of faith throughout our lives. Even when we claimed not to believe in a higher power, or questioned what that power had done for us, there was a faith at work—whether in our own reasoning or in our ability to think and analyze.
“If we’re honest with ourselves, which we’re not always able to be, we’ll see that this power we say we don’t believe in has probably been carrying us most of the way.”
Wayne reflects on how this faith—whether in logic, intellect, or reason—was still a form of belief, a kind of faith that shaped our lives. The Big Book reminds us that we were faithful, even if it was to the “God of reason,” and that this realization opens the door to understanding the broader concept of faith in recovery.
