Position of Neutrality: Finding Hope Through the Hopelessness in Step 2 AA Finding Hope Discovering a Greater Power in Life
Join Wayne Giles as he reads and expands on the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, offering deeper understanding and practical advice for those on their recovery journey. In this Step 2 AA session, Wayne explores the powerful distinction made in the Big Book: many of us came to believe in a power greater than ourselves only after confronting the hopelessness and futility of our lives as we had been living them.
“We had come to believe in the hopelessness and futility of life as we had been living it. What pointed us toward that power greater than ourselves? The hopelessness and futility in our lives.”
Wayne emphasizes that it was the stark realization of our own powerlessness and the misery of our existence that opened our hearts to the possibility of a higher power. When we were approached by those in whom the problem had been solved, we saw that recovery was possible. This session encourages participants to reflect on how their own experiences of hopelessness became the catalyst for seeking help and finding a new way of life. By recognizing the importance of this turning point, we can fully embrace the spiritual solution offered in the 12 Steps.
