“Memory is fickle; it’s tied to all kinds of weird things. But consciousness is something different. The almost certain consequences that follow taking even a glass of beer do not crowd into the mind to deter us. That’s kind of what they’re saying, right?”
Wayne explains that our brains are wired to remember the good times more than the bad, which is why the negative consequences of drinking often don’t come to mind until it’s too late. This session sheds light on the deceptive nature of memory and the importance of recognizing that our conscious awareness is not enough to protect us from picking up that first drink.
