In these times, we must learn to be skillful hearers - of the written Word and the inward witness of the Holy Spirit. God's voice is the most important voice we could listen to but we have to cultivate the ability to hear it. We need to choose carefully what we feed on and fill up with; it will have an effect on how we hear from God.
