Alan Gillanders believes some of life's most important questions begin where certainty ends.

For more than 50 years, Alan has explored questions surrounding consciousness, reality, purpose, spirituality, and the nature of human existence. Rather than limiting his search to a single philosophy, his journey has taken him through Christianity, Vedic teachings, Buddhism, the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, Hermeticism, and other spiritual traditions, alongside a deep personal interest in physics, neuroscience, and consciousness research.

Growing up in the Dandenong Ranges of Australia, surrounded by nature and raised within the Catholic tradition, Alan remembers sensing from an early age that there might be more to existence than what could be immediately seen or explained. At 16, an experience he interpreted as conscious manifestation intensified that curiosity and became an early turning point in his lifelong exploration of thought, intention, and human experience.

Over the decades, Alan's search has included meditation, energy practices, intuitive experiences, and profound states of awareness. From receiving what he describes as an intuitive warning while working on an offshore gas platform to experiencing an extraordinary sense of unity during deep meditation, these moments challenged his assumptions and encouraged him to continue investigating the relationship between consciousness and the world around us.

Yet Alan's life has remained firmly grounded in the practical and creative world. He has worked as a technical advisor in engineering and mining, operated businesses, owned an art gallery in Western Australia, pursued oil painting and metal sculpture, and designed and built his first home himself. For Alan, spirituality is not about escaping everyday life. It is about exploring it more deeply.

His decades of questioning and personal exploration ultimately inspired his book, The Sacred Hum of I AM, written for people who find themselves asking many of the same questions about consciousness, spirituality, science, purpose, and their place in the universe.
