Scott Cluthe talks with Mellisa K. Dean, author of Hi Gorgeous!: Starry Eyes and Toxic Lies. Dean was tired of not having a fulfilling relationship, and so she did what many have done. Turned to the Internet and on line dating game. A fast forward into a relationship, then marriage, resulted in the toxic truth of the man she thought she knew eventually leaking out, with terrible consequences. Melissa Dean is an attorney and public educator in Cleveland, Ohio. She earned her Bachelor's degree in political science from Ohio University in 1992. She furthered her education at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, where she obtained her Juris Doctor degree in 1996. Dean passed the Ohio bar examination and became a licensed attorney in 1999. A life-long champion for women and families at risk, her social conscience has guided her work as an advocate for domestic violence survivors and as a juvenile court magistrate. In addition to her solo law practice, she has also served as a college instructor and personal fitness trainer. She has written and spoken publicly on a variety of topics, including sexual harassment, civil rights, and the First Amendment. She continues to devote her education and resources to the improvement of her community and the furtherance of social justice.
