There's a profound warning that echoes through Scripture, one that Jesus emphasized more than almost any other sin: "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions" (Luke 12:15). Why would Jesus warn us to be "on guard" against greed specifically?
