The announcement made on New Year’s Day that Ethiopia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Somaliland covering several areas may have created the first major geopolitical risk of the year 2024. To state that this MOU is controversial is an understatement, given the fact that more African nations today are questioning the motivation behind such political and economic deal, the question that we should ask: Is it going to be a major conflict between Somaliland and Somalia soon? Is Somaliland going to be recognized officially, as another member to the continent of Africa?
