Conversation 4: Stop Auditioning for Your Own Worth
How much of your time and energy goes into proving yourself to others? In this conversation of Beneath the Surface, we explore how approval, accomplishments, relationships, and being needed can influence how we see ourselves. It's a reminder that your value isn't determined by how much you do or how others respond to you.
You don't have to keep proving that you matter.

Conversation 3: When Being the Strong One Gets Heavy
You know how everybody seems to have that one person they can call when something goes wrong? The one who listens, shows up, figures things out, and somehow always makes it work.
But what happens when you're that person?
In this conversation, we're talking about what it feels like to be the one everybody depends on. The pressure to always have it together, the things we carry without saying a word, and how easy it is to put our own needs on the back burner.
Because being strong doesn't mean you don't get tired. And just because you've always handled things doesn't mean everything should fall on you.
Sometimes, the person everybody leans on needs somebody to lean on, too.

Conversation 2: Everybody Doesn't Get Access to You
Everybody doesn’t get unlimited access to you—and setting boundaries doesn’t make you mean.
In this conversation, Counselor Stewart talks about learning to protect your peace without guilt, overexplaining, or feeling responsible for how everyone responds. This isn’t about cutting people off or becoming cold. It’s about discernment, self-respect, and understanding that access to your time, energy, and personal space should be intentional.
Sometimes growth looks like saying less, explaining less, and becoming more comfortable with the fact that everyone may not understand your boundaries.
Because protecting your peace isn’t punishment. It’s knowing what deserves access to you—and what doesn’t.
Conversation 1: I’m Fine…But I’m Not Myself
Sometimes you’re still showing up, handling responsibilities, and doing what needs to be done—but something inside feels different. In this first episode of Beneath the Surface, Counselor Stewart talks about those quiet moments when you realize, “I’m functioning, but I’m not really okay.” It’s a conversation about noticing what you’re carrying before you reach your breaking point—and giving yourself permission to pay attention to you.
As we close the Building the Village series, Counselor Stewart reflects on what it really means to create a community where children feel seen, supported, challenged, and valued. The village isn’t built through slogans or good intentions—it’s built through the way we show up, work together, repair what’s broken, and keep the child at the center. The question is no longer whether it takes a village. The question is: What kind of village are we choosing to be?
Episode 7: When Home and School See It Differently
What do we do when the story we see at school doesn’t match the story families see at home? In this episode, Counselor Stewart gets into the tension that can happen when educators and families disagree—and why proving who’s right should never become more important than helping the child. Sometimes the strongest partnerships are built right in the middle of the hard conversations.
Behavior is often more than what we see on the surface. In this episode, Counselor Stewart talks about looking beyond the behavior to understand what a child may really be communicating.
We’ll explore why curiosity should come before consequences, how relationships help us respond with intention, and why accountability and compassion can work together.
Sometimes the behavior we want to stop is the very thing we need to understand.
Episode 5: What Are We Pouring Into Students?
Every interaction with a student pours something into them. Our words, our tone, our expectations, and even the way we respond when they make mistakes can shape how they see themselves.
In Episode 5 of Pour Into Purpose with Counselor Stewart, we’re talking about the powerful role educators play in building students’ confidence, identity, and belief in what is possible for their lives. Are we pouring in encouragement, hope, accountability, and purpose—or are our words unintentionally creating doubt?
This episode is an invitation to become more intentional about what students receive from us each day. Because long after they leave our classrooms, they may not remember every lesson we taught—but they will remember what we helped them believe about themselves.
We pour. They grow. Every word. Every choice. Every day.

Transparency • Purpose • Impact
In Episode 4 of the Building the Village series, The Adults Are the Village Too, Counselor Stewart shifts the focus from students to the adults who surround them every day.
Because a strong school community doesn’t happen by accident. It grows when teachers, counselors, administrators, support staff, and families communicate, collaborate, and understand that we are all working toward the same goal. In this episode, we talk about how adult relationships shape school culture, why consistency matters, and how the way we support one another ultimately shows up in the way we support our students.
This is a reminder that building the village isn’t just about connecting with children—it’s also about strengthening the connections between the adults who serve them.
When the adults work together, students feel the difference.
Episode 3: Building Trust Before Trouble
In this episode of the Building the Village series, Counselor Stewart explores why strong relationships must be built before difficult moments happen. Trust is not something we wait to offer after a student struggles—it is created through daily greetings, meaningful conversations, consistent support, and genuine curiosity about who students are beyond their academics and behavior.
Every positive interaction becomes a relationship deposit that helps students feel seen, heard, valued, and safe. Tune in as we discuss how educators can use trust as a preventative practice, strengthen student connections, and create classrooms where belonging comes before correction.
Because when we build trust before trouble, we give students a stronger foundation to learn, grow, and thrive.
